Mira is AK Boat Tops’ Shop Dog.
She has come to us via the “It Takes a Village Dog Rescue” (ITAV). She is a 1+ year old Husky mix, super friendly though very shy. She likes to slowly meet people for the first few times, and will be protecting our shop from unwanted visitors.
Mira was rescued from a puppy mill in the Ottawa area, along with 27 other dogs. The operator is up on criminal chargers. Mira was fostered by AK Boat Tops owner Jymi Livesey and his family. When Mira arrived she was infected with a parvovirus. She had a tough battle for life and had a lengthy stay in multiple veterinarian facilities, raking up a huge bill for the dog rescue.  The ITAV group ran fundraisers to help keep Mira going. Â
In the end – Jymi just could not let her go, and she is now his buddy, head of security at the new shop and door greeter..Â
